Megan Borukhovsky is an artist, a writer, and a mother. Over the last seven years as an entrepreneur, Megan has found herself deeply immersed in the world of art, graphic design, and beauty. Her entrance into motherhood three years ago propelled her into women-centric work, focused on hosting women's circles, village prenatals, and working in a creative design capacity with birth, mothering, and wellness-focused brands owned by other women. It was through hosting women's circles that the true impact of kava among women became apparent to her, and has become a beloved part of her community and daily life.
Meg Edwards is a mother, herbalist, forager and medicine woman who has been bringing wildcrafted herbal medicine to her community for the past six years. She has been on the path of self-healing and studying various niches within the greater sphere of wellness since her own health awakening in her early 20's. Through her interest in medicinal plants and her various travels in other countries, she became acquainted with (and intrigued by) kava kava root. This plant reemerged in her consciousness as she was deep in the portal of becoming a mother, and has since deeply taken root in her life and community.
Motherland Kava is the sister-business dreamt up by both women, sprung from the use of kava in their own community, circles, and events here in Eastern Tennessee. The heart-opening, sweet and relaxing effect of kava facilitates deeper connection between those who drink it - harkening back to its traditional use, and finding a much-needed home in today's modern world. From this simple practice in their own lives they cultivated a bigger vision: Motherland Kava was born.
To these mothers, the Motherland is a place within the inner spirit, where we may sojourn on our own, but ultimately arrive to find we are in the company of many others. Much like arriving at a "place" in meditation or dreaming, we find ourselves there often when drinking kava with one another. It's a resting place, a home place, and somewhere from which the abundance, hope, and drive to co-create a matricentric future springs forth.
The Motherland women are deeply invested in practicing a matricentric lifestyle that brings women home to themselves, their ancestors, and their innate ways of mothering and living. For them, Kava is inextricably intertwined in this spiral journey.
We hope you find yourself in the Motherland one day and among the most incredible company there. May our Kava be a heart-opening guide on the way.
Sincerely,
